Renting FAQs

It is the mission of the New Ark to share our facility with others needing space.

Building Rentals

Q: Exactly where are you located?

A: 300 East Main Street, Newark, DE, just past the Emergency Center and Kelway Plaza. A map and directions to the church can be found here.

Q: What is needed in order to get a not-for-profit discount for a rental?

A: You must provide the church with your group’s nonprofit tax-exempt ID number.

Q: How big are the rooms and how many people can be accommodated there?

A: Please see the details of the rooms, including stats of the number of people each space can handle here.

Q: Can I arrange for a tour of the space?

A: Yes. Just email our Administrative Assistant or call (302) 737-4711 and arrange for a tour during office hours (Monday-Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.).

Q: What are the other conditions for using the rooms inside the building?

A: The details of the conditions of building use are outlined here.

Q: Whom do I call in case of emergency during my rental?

A: For an emergency such as fire or injury, call 911. For situations related to the building—the stove won’t work, the door won’t lock, or the refrigerator is leaking, etc.—call one of these emergency numbers: (410) 398-6844, or (302) 368-8482.

Parking Rentals

Q: What if someone is parking in my assigned space?

A: You may park anywhere in the church back lot in a space marked with white lines—don’t take another renter’s parking space. Be sure your hang-tag is on your rearview mirror. Then call the church office at (302) 737-4711 or drop us a note through the front door mail slot to let us know.

Q: I understand that my parking fee is non-refundable. What happens if circumstances change and I no longer need the space I have paid for?

A: You may “sublet” your space to someone else, but the exchange of money is between you and that person. The church office must be notified of the change that is being made, and a new contract must be completed by your replacement.

Q: What if there is a big snowstorm? Will I be plowed in? Will the church shovel me out?

A: We have a plowing service which clears the parking lot, so there is a chance you could be plowed in as would happen if you were parked at an apartment complex. We recommend that you keep some sand and a snow shovel in your car during the winter months.
